Game 7, Cards WIN

Well, What a game…..As I thought the entire time, the game came down to which bullpen would produce. The Cards did, the Mets didn’t. Later today, I’ll have my preview of the Fall Classic, as well as my picks for today’s college football action.

Cards fail to produce with runners in scoring position. Suppan still looks sharp. Once again, this game will come down to the bullpen that produces. A few more thoughts….

1. Pujols is just missing.

2. Larussa should have listended to me. Spiezio at 3rd and Taguchi in LF. Preston Wilson has 3 K’s and Rolen is a pop out machine.

3. Look for Beltran to come up with a big hit his next time up. I still have nightmares about his 2004 NLCS performance…..and we won.

Early thoughts….

Suppan and Perez look sharp. Rolen shouldn’t be out there. The bullpens will decide this game.

Mets vs. Cards

I feel like I am 10 again. Ozzie and crew versus the Mets. Unfortunately, this Cardinal team is not nearly as good as the late 1980’s edition. Couple of things to look for tonight.

1. The Cards are 2-0 when the series is even. These Cardinals played just well enough all year. Just well enough to win the Central, just well enough in the Padres series, and just well enough against the Mets.

2. Suppan on the road. He is a much better pitcher at home than on the road.

3. Oliver Perez on three days rest.

4. Who starts at 3B and LF for the Cards? Scott Rolen is just to banged up to be anywhere near his best-in the field or at the plate. I would hope LaRussa would look at Taguchi in left and Spiezio at 3B.

Should be a good game. I would expect the Mets to pull it out, being the stronger overall team. However, St. Louis seems to play just well enough to win.
